SUMMARY:Exhibition - Kukeri Dancing in Scotland
DESCRIPTION:Kukeri is a centuries-old Bulgarian tradition intended to dance away the evil spirits and welcome the arrival of spring.   \nYou are warmly invited to view this free exhibition\, a display of wonderful masks and drawings by children from the First Bulgarian School Nadejda Stancioff – Lady Muir Edinburgh – all inspired by Kukeri Dancing a vital part of Bulgaria’s global intangible cultural heritage.  \nThis exhibition will be open over the festival period\, having initially opened on March 30th. It is an initiative and production of the Traditional Dance Forum of Scotland in partnership with Bulgarian Cultural and Educational Centre Scotland and Two Destination Language. Free and open to all (no booking required): daily Mon-Sat 10am-5pm with late nights until 8pm Mon-Wed until 21 May 2026 at the Edinburgh Central Library (Grand Stairway) 7-9 George IV Bridge\, Edinburgh EH1 1EG. \n \n

SUMMARY:Creative Writing Workshop - Bonds\, Borders\, Belonging
DESCRIPTION:This creative writing workshop will explore how relationships – with lovers\, friends\, family\, neighbours and the nation – fold and unfold under the pressure of protracted hostile environment and rhetoric. \nUsing the prism of time\, body\, and connections\, Dr. Vanessa Montesi will facilitate participants engage in a series of free-writing activities and guided reflection. With permission from the authors\, the resulting texts will be published in a booklet\, comprising poetry\, illustrations and prose. Bring your own picnic and stay for a shared lunch in the garden at the end! \nThis workshop is taking place thanks to the support of the University of Edinburgh’s Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH).  Tickets are £3\, and fully subsidised tickets are available too.
