Edinburgh Spanish Film Festival: A special series of three Spanish films – ‘The Captive’

Directed by Alejandro Amenábar, The Captive is an historical drama that explores the life of Miguel de Cervantes, the author of Don Quixote. The film focuses on Cervantes’ five-year captivity in Algiers, starting in 1575, after being wounded in battle. It depicts his various attempts to escape, and his relationship with the Governor of Algiers.
